Bamboo Capping

Bamboo capping is a bamboo top cap that sits along the top of half-cut bamboo panels. It's not a panel. It comes in 2 metre lengths, about 100mm wide, at $10 a length inc GST. It tidies up the top edge and helps keep rain from running straight down into the bamboo end grain. It's in stock, and each length covers 2 metres of fence.

What bamboo capping does

• It finishes off the top edge, so the fence looks done instead of just stopping.
• It gives the tops of the poles a slight protective effect, because rain isn't going straight down into the end grain of the bamboo.
• You don't always need it. Plenty of people leave the top as it is. Capping is there if you want that cleaner finish.

Which panels it suits

• It fits on top of half-cut bamboo panels. Ours come in Light Blonde bamboo fence panels and Smoked Brown bamboo fence panels, both from $45 inc GST.
• It isn't a panel. It's a bamboo top cap in 2 metre lengths that runs along the top edge.
• It's not for WPC wall panels (more on that below).

Length and price

How much capping do I need?

Each length covers 2 metres. Measure the total top edge you want capped, divide by 2, and round up to the next whole length.

Say you've got a 9 metre fence. 9 divided by 2 is 4.5, so round up to 5 lengths. That's $50 inc GST.

Fitting and cutting

• Pre-drill, then pop a screw in.
• It cuts easily with a sharp-tooth saw, so you can trim it to whatever length you need.

Same as the panels: give it a coat of decking oil.

Bamboo capping vs WPC capping

Don't mix these two up. Bamboo capping is the $10, 2 metre bamboo top cap for bamboo panels. Our WPC wall panels aren't capped as standard. Capping for WPC is a separate optional add-on, and it's nothing to do with this product. For WPC, see the timber look WPC wall panels.
